Jim Moginie & The Family Dog ‘THUNK’ Album / 2026 Tour.
‘Rob Hirst and Midnight Oil might be gone but as long as Jim Moginie is around
creating and performing music, the memories and the spirit is being kept alive by
one of Australia’s most innovative and compassionate musicians and his new band
of exceptional, music making brothers.’ Greg Phillips, Australian Musician Magazine.
Jim Moginie from Midnight Oil, Kent Steedman, Paul Larsen Loughhead from
Celibate Rifles and Tim Kevin from The Apartments have released their second THUNK and are heading to Newcastle and Western Australia in May on this leg of their album launch tour.
Get your dancing shoes on for a night of freewheeling Australian rock music. Woof.
Jim:
‘We’re celebrating our roots, and the great tradition of Australian guitar music
generally on this run, playing songs from our combined histories and from our new record THUNK. We’re only releasing THUNK on cassette, vinyl and CD as a protest via
thunkthealbum.com and Songland Records as a kickback against the tech giants,
who are slowly killing the music industry by denying music creators income with
abysmal streaming royalties, investing in AI, data harvesting and the creation of AI
content designed to eliminate musicians altogether, their only motivation being
profit, and in Spotify’s case assisting in the creation of actual war machines.
Besides all of that, we’re a great dance band.
And we’re looking forward to going out West for the first time to support THUNK live in May 2026.’
